Liz + Hayden

You know, it really is true when they say working with friends makes this job even more special. In this post, I’m getting to relive one of my best friend’s wedding days. For a little backstory and context, Liz and I worked together at my old job and were desk neighbors! We connected instantly and the rest is pretty much history - we became the best of friends and bonded over Harry Styles. If you check out my wedding day recap, she was actually one of my bridesmaids - so when she asked if I would capture her wedding day, the answer was a loud and obnoxious YES.

Liz + Hayden opted for a lakeside wedding at one of Georgia’s most popular lakes, Lake Lanier! Liz’s family actually has a houseboat there which made the most beautiful reception space! We had some clouds on their wedding day and rain pretty much all morning but it didn’t stop us from capturing some amazing moments.

When we started talking about their day, Liz mentioned that she wanted a classic yet boho wedding and to say it was done well is an understatement. From the florals and pampas grass, Liz’s best gals dresses, and Liz’s lace wedding dress and wide brim hat, every single detail of their day was stunning.

Prior to the ceremony, Liz shared a first look with her father and Hayden right on the dock outside of their boat. A first look moment never ceases to make me cry and these were so pure. After the first looks, we found an open field with some trees for part one of L + H’s couples portraits.

Their wedding ceremony was held at a nearby outdoor wedding chapel right at the marina. The rustic vibes tied in perfectly to their day and their ceremony was beyond beautiful even though the rain clouds started rolling back in for us. We celebrated their night with a reception right on top of the family houseboat which was covered with a tent, keeping us nice and dry for most of the night!

One of my favorite parts of their day was right after the speeches when Hayden busted out his guitar and sang “In My Life” by The Beatles just for Liz! Seriously the sweetest thing I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding. I was 100% crying happy tears.

Intimate wedding days like this just make my heart go wild. Liz + Hayden’s day was so family and friends focused which made it that much more special. They were extremely intentional when it came to making their day their own and it was so apparent in the best way. So beyond grateful that Liz allowed me to capture this beautiful day! Here’s to almost a year of marriage for The Clellands!
